Godliness

II Peter 1:3-10 (Bolded word has the Greek meanings in parenthesis)

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious - (Valued at great price, costly, honored) promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption - (bringing or being brought into an inferior or worse condition, a destruction or corruption) that is in the world through lust - (strong desire). And beside this,

Giving all Diligence - (earnestness, zeal, carefulness, care),

add to your

Faith - (Firm conviction in the invisible God, producing a full acknowledgement of God’s revelation and truth, and the conduct inspired by such surrender.)

Virtue - (Manifestation of divine power, Moral excellence);

and to your virtue

Knowledge - (Seeking to know, enquiry, investigation of spiritual truth);

and to knowledge

Temperance - (To have power over oneself);

and to temperance

Patience - (To bear up courageously under suffering);

and to patience

Godliness - (Reverence, worshiping God, showing piety towards any to whom dutiful regard is due);

and to godliness

Brotherly kindness - (Tender affection for others, both believers, and the world.);

and to brotherly kindness

Charity - (Practicing God’s love that is not dependent on worthiness or any merit on the recipient).

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
